We had the pleasure of sitting down with guitarist Rodrigo Almonte Zegarra a few weeks ago to chat to him about his upcoming album release and tour. Thanks a million to Rodrigo for talking the time to speak with us!
His latest album, 'Sounds of the Blue Book', will be released on September 20th featuring Lorenzo Vitola (piano) and Matthew Jacobson (drums / percussion / glockenspiel). The band will be touring the album from October 2nd until October 11th; more info about venues and tickets below.
During the interview, Rodrigo spoke about how he got into jazz, his studies in Ireland and abroad, his album 'Sounds of the Blue Book’ and its compositional process, the tour, the Irish scene, his upcoming plans and other projects.

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to sit down with Izumi Kimura in the Jazz and Contemporary Music Department at DCU. We’d like to thank Izumi for taking the time to chat with us and for speaking so candidly about her life.
During the interview, Izumi spoke about her introduction to music, her move from Japan to Ireland, being immersed in the Dublin jazz community—despite not considering herself a jazz musician—her approach to improvisation and composition, the symbolism in her music, and her upcoming album releases.
Izumi is releasing multiple albums this year, including Butterfly Effect, which is currently available on Bandcamp and other streaming platforms, and Glacial Voyage (a collaborative album with Swiss guitarist Christy Doran).

Last week, we had the pleasure of chatting with Charlie Moon at his place in Stoneybatter ahead of Organ Freeman’s upcoming album release, “Busy Work”. Huge thanks to Charlie for welcoming us into his home.
During the interview, Charlie talked about his introduction into music, early influences, Organ Freeman and their residency at The Big Romance, the new album and release concert, the Irish jazz scene, and his future plans.
