Hugh Buckley is one of Dublin’s best known Jazz Guitarists. Over many years he became somewhat of an institution for jazz guitar in Ireland. As a mostly self-taught player is style is unique and deeply rooted in the origins of Jazz while constantly striving for modern sounds and inspirations. As the founder of the well-known Dublin Guitar Night, Hugh’s reach spread outside the Jazz scene. In this episode Hugh talks about the history of Jazz in Dublin. His own development as a musician and the way he learned music and playing jazz in a very practical way, on the band stand.

Jazz on the banks of the River Moy - A Radio documenatry about P.J.Duffy and his legendary Jazz Sess

This radio documentary tells the story of P.J.Duffy a well-known musician and publican from Ballina, Co. Mayo, who now has retired from his business but who will be fondly remembered for the now legendary weekly "Tuesday Night JAZZ-Sessions, which took place in his pub for more than 30 years and which became an attraction for many music lovers, Jazz cats, tourists and occasional drop-ins from near and far. Those sessions were exceptional and unique in the area and developed to a charming and enchanting event, which shouldn't be forgotten.

Dublin Guitar Duets - Part 4: Julien Colarossi

I had so much fun sitting down with Julien Colarossi last week. Chatting about music, learning by ear, him moving to Ireland and the experiences he made. And of course a little bit of playing at the end. Julien is a fantastic guitarist, fully in touch with the tradition of Jazz and forming it into his own sound on the guitar.

It´s a lovely episode and I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for taking the time!
