West is the debut album of Irish Math-Jazz quintet, Umbra.
West' chronicles a solo journey guitarist and bandleader Chris Guilfoyle took along the West Coast of the U.S and Canada using public transport while also staying with complete strangers via Couchsurfing.
Each track is dedicated to the major cities he stopped in while, at the same time, tries to evoke the various emotions Chris was going through from joy and excitement to loneliness and fear.
The album features all the hallmarks of what has made Umbra such an exciting band as well as taking on a new dimension with the personal content of the music itself.
