Join Jazz Camp for Girls and explore jazz music and improvisation with like-minded girls, making up songs and experimenting, playing in a group and have fun learning from inspiring women in jazz!
Jazz Camp for Girls* is a 3-day music summer camp at DCU, Dublin for 11-16 year old girls to explore and learn about jazz music, composition and improvisation in a supportive and fun environment, that also celebrates the role of women working in music.
Presented by Improvised Music Company and facilitated by professional jazz musicians and educators, the camp is designed to give girls their first experience of improvised music and develop confidence in their personal musicality, creating their own original music and performing it with their peers.
Jazz Camp for Girls at DCU is made possible through collaboration with the DCU Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance degree, and with the continued support of Fingal Arts Office since 2023.
While we do require each child to have at least 2 years learning music, participants can come with no or little experience of improvising, just a curiosity to learn. A background in any music genre, and all instruments are welcome.

Please note, places on Jazz Camp for Girls are limited and will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.
LOCATION: St Patrick’s campus, DCU, Dublin 9
DATES: Tue 30th Jun - Thu 2nd Jul 2026
TIMES: 10am-3:30pm daily
TUTORS: Jenna Harris, Linda Adams Hayley Kavanagh, Andrea Jones supported by IMC.
COST: €45 for the 3-day camp, thanks to subsidy from Fingal Arts Office and DCU. No-cost scholarships available where needed, apply through the main application form.

BACKGROUND of Jazz Camp for Girls:
Jazz Camp for Girls is an international educational programme supporting pre-teen and early teen girls in exploring improvisation and jazz music in a fun, supportive environment. It began in Denmark in 2014, with camps now running all across the country, as well as in Poland, Slovenia, UK, Sweden, Canada and Turkey! Read more about Jazz Camp for Girls with Jazz North UK here.
