Join Jazz Camp for Girls, and meet like-minded girls aged 11-16, exploring jazz music and improvisation together, making up songs and experimenting, putting your own spin on classics, playing in a group and having lots of fun learning from inspiring women in jazz!
Jazz Camp for Girls is a 4-day music summer camp where girls aged 11-16 can explore and learn about jazz music and improvisation in a supportive and fun environment, that also celebrates the role of women working in music. Led by professional musicians, the camps are designed to give girls their first experience of improvised music and develop confidence in their personal musicality.Participants can come with no or little experience of improvising, just a curiosity to learn. A background in any music genre and all instruments are welcome.Professional female musicians and educators working in jazz lead the girls as mentors and tutors over the 4-day camps, sharing their own experience as performers, while guiding the participants to explore their own interests and ability as musicians.
Jazz Camp for Girls at DCU is made possible through collaboration with the Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance degree, and with the continued support of Fingal Arts Office.
