*Everybody Digs Bill Evans* comes to Irish cinemas on 11 September 2026. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, where director Grant Gee won the Silver Bear for Best Director.

1961. Bill Evans is playing with what he considers the perfect musical trio until tragedy strikes with the premature death of his bass player, Scott LaFaro – his musical soulmate. Traumatised by grief, Evans stops playing for the first time since childhood. A tug-of-war between personal torment and the seemingly safer haven of familial love sees Evans oscillate between New York and suburbia, his genius always bubbling beneath the surface.

*Everybody Digs Bill Evans* is a biographical drama about the legendary jazz pianist and composer, written by Mark O’Halloran and based on Owen Martell's novel *Intermission*. Shot in a mixture of black-and-white and saturated colour, Grant Gee presents multiple timelines to illustrate Evans’ life.

The film is Gee’s first narrative feature, following his acclaimed documentaries *The Gold Machine*, *Patience (After Sebald)* and *Innocence of Memories*. He is also known for the music documentaries *Joy Division* and *Meeting People Is Easy*, about Radiohead.

Anders Danielsen Lie plays Evans, with Bill Pullman and Laurie Metcalf as his parents. Additional cast members include Barry Ward and Valene Kane.
