Event Description
Irish Jazz History and Archive present a Tribute to Rock Fox Featuring the Conor Guilfoyle Quartet plus special guest Tommy Halferty.
Conor Guilfoyle leads his quartet in a programme inspired by the music Rock Fox loved and championed throughout his career, featuring works by Gerry Mulligan and Duke Ellington. The concert will draw on Rock Fox's own original arrangements, alongside some of Mulligan's original charts that were personally given to Fox, offering audiences a rare opportunity to hear this music performed as he intended. Gerry Mulligan was one of the defining voices of cool jazz, renowned as a pioneering baritone saxophonist, composer and arranger whose influence continues to be felt across generations of jazz musicians.
Joining the quartet is special guest Tommy Halferty, one of Ireland's leading jazz guitarists, for what promises to be a heartfelt tribute celebrating Rock Fox's enduring contribution to Irish jazz.
