As celebrated jazz pianist Phil Ware recovers from illness, Stella Bass, long-time friend and collaborator, joins forces with The Johnny Taylor Trio, to perform some of the arrangements Phil wrote for her. Expect Kern, Porter, Gershwin…and a few surprises!
Phil Ware is widely considered Ireland’s leading jazz pianist and arranger who, in June 2020, suffered a severe stroke, but continues to make great strides back to health.
Stella Bass is a longtime friend and collaborator of Phil’s. They first started working together in 2005 and over the years, Phil wrote many song arrangements for her: not only jazz standards, but also songs from film, popular music and musicals. No genre was safe from his capable arranging skills!
Johnny Taylor – like Phil, also originally from London – leads his own piano trio in Dublin, featuring Barry Donohue on double bass, and Dominic Mullan on drums. The trio is much in demand, and most recently performed at Glastonbury 2022 with the much-loved Mary Coughlan.
