Lee Meehan is best known on the Irish music circuit for being a blues guitarist and singer with bands including Don Baker, The Business, Damien Dempsey and Mik Pyro (Republic of Loose).
After hearing jazz guitar great Wes Montgomery for the first time, Lee became fascinated with jazz and studied the genre, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance from Newpark College in 2019.
Lee has quickly become a great leader is his own right and formed The Lee Meehan Quintet two years ago when he brought together some of Ireland’s top players in a high-octane ensemble. He recorded his debut jazz album “Some of Us are Looking at the Stars” to critical acclaim last year, and has built a reputation as a great showman and band leader whose sound spans both blues and jazz.
For this outing at Scott’s Jazz Club, Lee will be bringing his organ trio to the club for a great mixture of blues, jazz, and vocals.
Scott's Jazz Club is a Thursday night Jazz concert/ livestream event at Ballyhackamore club on No. 1 Sandown Road, East Belfast. The concert price is £15 and includes Bangladeshi finger food . The drink prices are really low as well!
