Event Description

The Carole Nelson Trio's launch of their new album Through the Storm, released on Livia Records.

With Carole on piano, Cormac O’Brien on bass and Dominic Mullan on drums, the trio continues their ever-strengthening bond, spanning 10 years of performance and three previous albums.

London-born and living in Ireland since 1986, pianist and saxophonist Carole Nelson is in her fifth decade of creative music-making. She currently lives between the River Barrow and the Blackstairs Mountains - a landscape which inspires her music.

Through the Storm continues the ecological themes of Carole’s previous work. The music paints an emotive picture of nature’s resilience and fragility through the stories of two bird species- the swallow’s migratory journey and the now-extinct kauai’ o’o, continuing Carole’s engagement and concern for the natural world and our place in it. This is elegant, lyrical music, both timeless and of the moment.
