Having formed as the resident band in The Big Romance and playing together every Sunday since late 2018, Organ Freeman spent years building their repertoire and honing their signature sound. Seeking to capture the energy and spontaneity of their live performances in the studio, they recorded their debut album, Busywork, with the legendary Michael Buckley on tenor sax. Regarded as the most important and influential musician on the Irish jazz scene, Buckley not only lends his distinctive voice to the recording but also brings his expertise behind the scenes, engineering, mixing, and mastering the album. The result is a dynamic collection of crowd favorites from their residency alongside original compositions by Darragh and Charlie. Rooted in the rich legacy of the 1950s and ’60s jazz organ tradition, their sound blends deep musical heritage with a modern, groove-driven sensibility.

Special thanks to Faolán Collins, founding member of the group, for the years of playing, to Mia Parsons and Emily Kouri for helping us get the design over the line at short notice, to Teru Hennessy for not rushing into this world so we could finish the recording, and to all our friends at The Big Romance for giving us the space to do our thing, for showing up every week, for the cake, the good times, and the support. Keep on comin' down, here's to the rest.
