Event Description

Dancing the Character: From Charleston to Contemporary Theatre

Internationally renowned dancer and actress Ksenia Parkhatskaya brings her explosive energy and artistry to this practical dance workshop. Known worldwide as one of the leading voices in Charleston and Solo Jazz, Ksenia has also built a career as an actress and theatre maker, weaving dance and storytelling together on stage.

In this 90-minute session, Ksenia will guide participants through accessible Solo Jazz and Charleston movement, inviting them to explore rhythm, playfulness, and character. She will introduce movement ideas inspired by jazz dance vocabulary, Gaga technique, and theatrical improvisation, offering participants new ways to embody rhythm and expand their expressive range.

This is a physical, energetic workshop where words give way to movement. Participants will leave with a toolkit of dance-based exercises that can enrich their practice as performers, movers, or theatre makers.
