Event Description

After their debut last month The Good Noise return to the Lough Inn on Thursday night.

An old pub in Enniskillen by the banks of the river Erne near the West Bridge. Blessed with fine acoustics the bar was pretty busy for the first appearance of the four-piece.

The band is named after by way of homage the step-father of band guitarist Cris Gill, the Plymouth Hot Record Store owner Peter Russell who published The Good Noise Jazz Book and Magazine Guide.

Gill, who plays with local blues band Sidewalk Boogie and who in recent years has gigged with boogie-woogie star pianist Ben Waters, is joined in The Good Noise by double bassist Roni McManus also of the Boogie keeping immaculate time and excelling on Bobby Timmons' 'Moanin',' Caolan Hutchinson on keys who has a Scott Flanigan-like level technique and flair, with James Anderson on drums. Caolan is a superb pianist who we will be hearing I guess a lot more of in the future and he came into his own on Nat Adderley's 'Work Song'. Anderson plays a bit in the Tony Williams mould. The highlight was an extended 'Chitlins Con Carne,' Gill's sense of space a factor as the four grooved.
