Tengu Jazz is back this quarter! After four sold out shows in 2022 it’s definitely time to bring back this series. The first night welcomes special guests the Hayley Kavanagh Quintet.Opening the night is StrangeLove (Negro Impacto) with an all vinyl set.
This event is a limited capacity seated event running from 8pm to 11pm. Tickets are €17.50 per person, however due to the intimate capacity tickets are sold as tables of two or four, not separately. There will be a tailored drinks, sushi, gyoza & snacks menu specifically for the evening so you can enjoy some bites alongside some of Ireland’s best Jazz musicians for a very special & intimate evening in Tengu.
Hayley Kavanagh is a Dublin - based saxophonist and flautist. After several years living and performing in Prague and Berlin, she returned to Ireland in 2023 and has since become an active voice in the local jazz scene.
She leads her own quartet, has performed at events such as the Bray Jazz Festival and with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra Big Band, and appears regularly with projects such as So - Young Yoon’s Master Album Series and the Genuine Jazz Orchestra.
Kavanagh has shared the stage with leading Iris h improvisers including Kevin Brady, Dave Redmond, Linley Hamilton, Cathal Roche, Derek Whyte, Aleka Pontinga, Brendan Doyle, Chris Guilfoyle, and Michael Buckley. She is also co - founder of the Cookin’ Dublin jazz guide and the Arthur’s Jazz Jam, while ma intaining an active role as a sideman across a range of projects.
Dundalk’s Laurence Kapinga, aka StrangeLove, has slowly been carving out a distinct space in Ireland’s music community as both a DJ and producer. With releases on 3024 and Reasons To Dance, as well as his work in the alternative R&B duo Negro Impacto, he’s become known for a sound that fluidly crosses genres while maintaining a singular identity within the Irish scene.
