Irish Jazz Harpist
For all of you experiencing post-Christmas blues, Sorcha Mc Cague promises a special evening at Arthur’s Jazz Club with her unique jazz quartet. Harp is not a typical instrument in jazz music with a few historic exceptions.
Sorcha is an award-winning and innovative musician who comes from a very successful classical and Irish music background. Following a scholarship awarded in 2018 from the International Jazz Harp Foundation to travel to a jazz workshop in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil),Sorcha turned her focus to performing and popularising the inclusion of the harp in jazz and improvised music settings at home and abroad. She has collaborated with a host of rising jazz artists across Europe including the Siena Jazz Orchestra and just recently completed a tour in Malaga, Spain, alongside the highly acclaimed tenor saxophonist, Daniel Torres.
Last year she featured in the "Kind of New" Emerging Jazz musician series in Dublin and completed an IMC music residency at Tinahely Arts Centre focusing on her own compositions for mostly jazz quartet.
She will be joined by three outstanding musician who are no strangers to the Irish Jazz. They will play some original compositions and their own arrangements of jazz standards.
