Coltrane at Jazz at Johnstown
John Coltrane’s tone on the tenor sax was huge and dark, with clear definition and full body, even in the highest and lowest registers.
On the best-selling jazz album of all time, A Kind of Blue, he is the standout performer. He famously said: “I start in the middle of a sentence and move both directions at once.”
Recording artist and Wexford drummer Kevin Lawlor has long admired the vigorous and intense style of Coltrane.
For this unique Jazz at Johnstown concert, Kevin is joined by Leon Buckley on tenor saxophone, Andrew Csibi on double bass and, from Wales, the great pianist Dave Jones.
Expect an evening of cascading notes and virtuoso performances.
