Join us for the fifth edition of this series, presenting the best of Irish Jazz in Cork's renowned Sonflour restaurant.
This month's edition of Jazz at Sonflour welcomes a new group made up of renowned Irish saxophonist Karl Rooney, Peruvian-born, Kildare-based guitarist Rodrigo Almonte.
Karl is a longstanding and famed exponent of the Irish jazz scene who, aside from performing with many of the best musicians in the country also founded and runs the Bachelor's degree in Popular Music in Cork's School of Music.
Rodrigo is a boundary-pushing guitarist whose grounding in the stylistic mores of New York's contemporary jazz scene is paired with a unique harmonic approach and finds expression, currently, in a focus on the rhythmic and melodic tradition of his native Andean regions.
They are joined here by the renowned rhythm section of Aidan Gray on bass and Michael McCarthy on drums.
