Without a doubt, Leo Richardson a regular at London’s famous Ronnie Scott’s club - is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading jazz tenor saxophonists, known for his honest, straight-ahead, contemporary hard-bop style.
His album The Chase was selected by The Times as one of the Top 10 Jazz Albums of 2017 and one of the Top 100 Albums of all music genres. The Chase was also the first debut album to receive five stars from The Observer.
The musicians joining Leo at Johnstown Castle on Friday, May 01, are all international standouts in their own right, including fellow Ronnie Scott’s regular, pianist Rick Simpson, the powerful and hugely vibrant double bassist David Redmond and the much sought after recording artiste, Darren Beckett, on drums.
Rick is also a regular performer at the 606 Jazz Club, Pizza Express, The Vortex, The Bull’s Head and has appeared at notable venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and the Purcell Room.
Darren has performed everywhere from the Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall, alongside such greats as Lee Konitz, Brandon Flowers, Sinead O’Connor, Lauryn Hill, Madeleine Peyroux and Van Morrison.
Dave, no stranger to Jazz at Johnstown, is celebrated for his collaborations with Irish and international artists including Larry Coryell, Seamus Blake, Dave Liebman, Van Morrison, Jason Rebello and many more.
