Event Description

Goliath Music NI are delighted to present... The Wendy Kirkland & Pat Sprakes Trio.

Wendy Kirkland is one of the UK jazz scene’s most distinctive pianist-singers, renowned for her sophisticated piano playing, warm vocals and effortlessly swinging performances. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Diana Krall, Eliane Elias, Shirley Horn and Blossom Dearie, Wendy has built a growing reputation through her acclaimed recordings and extensive touring across the UK jazz circuit.

Her debut album Piano Divas received widespread praise, with Dave Gelly of The Observer describing her as a “terrific pianist and singer” and Jazz Journal noting that she “does both with feeling and flair”. Her follow-up release The Music’s On Me further cemented her reputation as an inventive arranger, composer and improviser, while her Latin jazz project Latin Lowdown Live showcased her flair for Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Alongside her performing career, Wendy is co-founder of the highly regarded Chesterfield Jazz Club, where she has performed and collaborated with many leading figures in British jazz including Alan Barnes, Roger Beaujolais and Jim Mullen. The Wendy Kirkland Trio promises an afternoon of world-class musicianship, swinging grooves, and beautifully crafted jazz standards and originals.

The Wendy Kirkland Trio features Wendy Kirkland on piano & vocals, Pat Sprakes on bass, Matt McCrudden on drums... and special guest Dr Linley Hamilton on trumpet.
