Event Description

Lulu's jazz Club is glad to present a very special concert with ITALIAN BARITONE SAX ANDREA ABBADIA & IRISH TRIO.

Join us on Thursday, May 11th, for a VERY SPECIAL CONCERT featuring Italian Baritone Saxophonist @andreabbadia, visiting Dublin once a year for the past three years. He’ll present his captivating project:

‘GERRY MULLIGAN, BALLAD & LOVE SONGS’
Performed with ANDREA ABBADIA & IRISH TRIO

Lineup:
Andrea Abbadia – Baritone Sax (@andreabbadia)
Chris Guilfoyle – Guitar (@chrisguilfoyleguitar)
Cormac O’Brien – Bass (@obcorm)
Fiach O'Brien – Drums
Guest Vocalist: @luisa.annibali.music

Andrea Abbadia’s tribute to Gerry Mulligan is more than a homage—it's a revival of cool jazz. While embracing bebop’s innovations, it offers a relaxed, melodic, and atmospherically rich experience, blending classical influences with jazz improvisation. The performance emphasizes middle registers, gentle tempos, and a conversational approach to improvisation, creating a unique, soothing jazz atmosphere.

Most pieces are from Mulligan’s iconic quartet, with the addition of guitar adding a modern touch. Playing this repertoire alongside Irish musicians brings an exciting, international flavor, and the quartet will also perform original compositions.

Don’t miss this exceptional night of jazz!

Venue Information - The International Bar

The International Bar is a traditional family-run irish pub with a long tradition of offering the best in entertainment. Whether it's the informal and unexpected encounters between the many travellers and tourists who gravitate here, the ad hoc "seisiun" when someone pulls out a bodhran and a fiddle of a Sunday, or the unique 7 night weekly comedy clubs upstairs, there's always something happening and it's always worth dropping in.
