Event Description

Metropolis is a Dublin-based four-piece. Paul McAteer plays drums, Garvan Gallagher is on bass and vocals, Paul Barrett is on keyboards, piano, flugabone and vocals, and Keith Donald is on sax, clarinet, ukulele and vocals. Their music is original, quirky and fun.

Paul McAteer has played drums with Horslips, Moving Hearts, Paul Brady, Van Morrison, Sting, Bill Whelan and many other artists.

Paul Barrett has worked as producer, engineer, orchestrator, keyboardist or brass player with U2 (every album), Sinead O'Connor, Carole King, Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra, the RTE Concert Orchestra and many other notables.

Garvan Gallagher has played with Midnight Well, Paul Brady, Luka Bloom, Mary Black, Los Paradiso and has recorded on scores of successful albums.

Keith Donald has played or recorded with Zoot Sims, Gerry Mulligan, Maire Breatnach, Louis Stewart, Noel Kelehan, Honor Heffernan, Jim Doherty, Tom Robinson, Van Morrison, Moving Hearts (every gig) and hundreds of others.

Metropolis played gigs and festivals in the late 1970s, took a 36 year sabbatical, came together last year for a memorial gig for Don Harris, enjoyed it and decided to reform and play new compositions.
