Bennigan’s Bar in is Derry undoubtedly the home of jazz in the city. Run by pianist and organist John Leighton, the bar regularly features the finest in Irish jazz musicians and has hosted numerous world class artists during the Derry Jazz Festival.
The house band at Bennigan’s bar consists of John Leighton on piano, Meilana Gillard on tenor saxophone, Michael Barkley on trumpet and Scott’s Jazz Club regulars Rohan Armstrong on bass and Andrew McCoubrey on drums. Each musician is of the highest calibre in their own right, and together the musicians create a powerful force which can be heard every Saturday afternoon in Derry.
For this special crossover appearance the Bennigan’s band will be appearing at Scott’s Jazz Club, led by pianist John Leighton.
Scotts Jazz Club
A world class jazz club in a relaxed and informal dedicated concert setting. The cheapest pint in town, and a 3 course preshow meal for £15!
Each week the concert has different top musicians performing exciting and accessible jazz. The venue is specially setup to deliver the best atmosphere to hear Ireland's top jazz performers. Scott's Jazz Club is a Thursday night Jazz concert/ livestream event at Ballyhackamore club on No. 1 Sandown Road, East Belfast. The concert price is £15 and includes Bangladeshi finger food . The drink prices are really low as well!
