The Sofa Sessions is delighted to present two rising stars of the Dublin jazz scene, guitarist Scott Kohlmann and bassist Barry Donohue. Inspired by the classic guitar and bass duo of Jim Hall and Ron Carter, but updated with gorgeous contemporary compositions by some of Kohlmann and Donohue's former collaborators, including Brazillan guitarist Nelson Veras, Australian saxophonist Jamie Oehlers and New York guitarist Jonathan Kriesberg, this will a quiet, laid-back chamber concert, the perfect way to ease ourselves into Autumn.
Barry Donohue is a favourite at the Sofa Sessions, recently heard with guitarist Nigel Mooney's band and is also regular on the road with Mary Coughlan.
Scott Kohlmann spent three years studying at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston and was based in New York until he recently returned to his native Dublin. In 2004 Scott won the Martin Luther King artistry award for co-writing a song entitled "We Declare Peace".

Billy Byrnes is a family run tradional Irish bar and first opened its doors in 1954. We are centrally located in Kilkenny City, just around the corner from the train and bus station.
