Event Description

Long form instrumental compositions for electric guitar and drums by Shane Holly, performed alongside Brian Walsh (also of Inni-K).

Deftly crafted pieces comprised of subtly evolving rhythmic/melodic hook based patterns, unfold gradually to envelop the listener in immersive and emotive compositions, spiraling at times to epic proportions, all the while retaining an emotive sensibility tailored to the introspective listener.

Shane Holly is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Dublin. His work is comprised of instrumental composition for small ensemble, centred around his primary instruments the electric guitar and drums. The music features expansive, lush, continually evolving hook-oriented pieces resulting in a series of diverse structures that lend themselves to broad interpretation and introspection, focusing on emotive experience, immersion and dynamic contrast.

Shane has arranged, performed and recorded alongside various Irish artists. He collaborated with Jennifer Evans on the E.P. ‘Salient Point’, and debut album ‘Works from the Dip and Foul’, as well as Rhob Cunningham on the E.P. ‘Roses Song’ and debut album ‘Our Little Secrets’. Other artists include We Raise Bears, Joey Gavin and most recently the raucous noise-pop outfit THUMPER with whom he recorded the E.P. ‘Out of Body Auto-Message’ due for release in May 2019.

Shane has been a long time collaborator of animator and filmmaker Alan Holly, composing the score for the multi-award winning (Best Animated Short at SXSW) oscar-shortlisted animation ‘Coda’, http://www.andcodafilm.com/ and has worked alongside dancer, choreographer and songwriter Aoife McAtamney in both dance-theatre and music productions including ‘Pink Breath, the Sung Essays’ and the Dublin Fringe production ‘Empty Echo’.
