Event Description
Irish / Australian dual national Daniel Rorke returns to Jazz Co-op at The Workman’s Club, Dublin, to play in the company of Ireland’s most bad-assed Jazz trio.
The four of them will be rendering the entire repertoire from the famous John Coltrane album, simply entitled Ballads, that has become a touchstone for contemporary ballad playing in the decades since its release. The Rorke/Ware quartet will be invoking the spirit of the recording and will put into service several of the Coltrane arrangements while placing their own sensibilities on the tunes. Many of the compositions, such as Say It Over and Over Again, and Nancy With The Laughing Face are compositions, that although known intimately by Jazz listeners, all-too-rarely are played on standards sessions.
Expect an evening of energetic, yet melodic, ballad playing from four of Dublin’s most charismatic players.
Daniel Rorke - Saxophone
Phil Ware - Piano
Dave Redmond - Bass
Kevin Brady - Drums
