Join us for an special evening at Greenacres in Wexford, when award-winning jazz vocalist Melanie O’Reilly celebrates the legendary jazz singer Anita O’Day, - capturing the essence of an unconventional musical icon.
Inspired by O'Day's smokey swinging style and brilliant sense of rhythm, Melanie 's riveting performances have garnered her 4-star reviews and standing ovations wherever she performs, whether at the Los Angeles Schoenberg Hall, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The National Concert Hall Dublin, or in recently sold-out shows in San Francisco's hippest jazz clubs, she brings new life to the Great American songbook in a way that is utterly unique, contemporary and brilliantly exciting. Since bursting onto the international jazz scene, Melanie O’Reilly is recognised as one of Ireland’s international jazz ambassadors and spends her time between Berkeley, California and Ireland. She has been recognised in the US as a distinguished artist in residence, and is an international jazz performer/singer, songwriter and music educator. After representing Ireland in the international 2013 EU Jazz Festival at Schoenberg Auditorium, Los Angeles, her subsequent performance at the National Concert Hall Dublin garnered the accolade as one of the “Top concerts of 2013" by the Sunday Independent, Melanie O’Reilly is also the creator and host of the award-winning RTE radio show "Jazz on the Bay".
Melanie will be joined by: Kevin Lawlor on drums, who is the leading sound of jazz in the south east of Ireland and has enjoyed sell out performances recently with his new Quintet, and also by the great Pat Molitor on piano and Waterford based double bass player Peter Vogelaar.'
