Hennessey/Moriarty/O'Donovan brings together three like-minded musicians with a love of melody and hard swinging tunes, plus a deep commitment to the jazz tradition. Veterans John Moriarty (guitar) and Shane O’Donovan (drums) are joined by the up-and-coming Darragh Hennessy (organ).
The combination of guitar, organ and drums has a storied history in jazz. From Wes Montgomery and Melvin Rhyne to more contemporary albums by Pat Martino and Joey Defrancesco, guitarists and organists keep coming back to this setup. The unique function of organ as both bass and harmony allows for the intimate interplay of a smaller group with the sound of a larger, fuller one.
Expect tight arrangements and burning solos from this trio. Definitely one to catch!
