Event Description

Paul McIntyre (PhD, BMus, LTCL, PGCHEP, Dip Mus) performs regularly at international jazz festivals and for numerous broadcasters. McIntyre has held appointments as Lecturer in Music at several universities in Ireland and in the U.K. And continues his research interests both in his practice as a jazz pianist and in musicology.

In support of his artistic practices he was select recipient of the Major Individual Award by the Arts Council in 2013. An interdisciplinary anthology titled Watching Jazz: Encounters with Jazz Performance on Screen published (June 2016) by Oxford University Press, USA features hi chapter Jazz Performance on Screen: Mediatizatiion of Gesture, Bodily Empathy, and the viewing Experience. McIntyre is joined by double bassist Dave Redmond (Dublin) and drummer Kevin Brady(Dublin). With special guest appearance by the acclaimed saxophonist Gay McIntyre (Derry).
