The class will be followed by an evening of socialising and social dancing with Dublin’s famously friendly swing dance community . The live hot jazz for your listening and dancing pleasure will be provided by the best swing bands in Ireland.

The Dirty Jazz club have been a massive part of the Dublin Jazz scene for around 15 years. Their focus is on the exploration and deconstruction of songs and an emphasis on creating a depth and textural soundscape on the melody, form and feel of the tunes.

Enjoy an afternoon of all original compositions by guitarist Ben Prevo - ably assisted by Dominic Mullan on drums, Sean Maynard Smith on 5 string Citron bass and keyboardist Maja Elliot. Although not specifically versed in the traditional jazz idiom, Ben's pieces draw elements from blues, country, jazz and more and have plenty of space for improvisation and surprises.

English saxophonist Nye Banfield is a distinctly creative saxophonist and composer. His music has a raw and earthy organic quality, painting visceral scenes inspired by his life experiences. Having spent nearly 10 years cutting his teeth in South East London, Nye is now based in Birmingham where he is forming the next chapter of his career.

Led by Steve Welsh, a veteran of the New York jazz scene, Cuideachta is a new powerhouse Irish quartet. Since arriving in 2020, Welsh has brought a burst of creative energy to the Dublin jazz scene.

Deriving from Ireland’s original Guinness Jazz Band, so popular in the 80’s and 90’s, they have played major jazz festivals, and jazz clubs throughout Europe, with regular performances in Germany, Scandinavia, the UK, and Ireland.
