Event Description
An Immersive music performance-installation for solo performer, community voices & woodwind octet. Throughout lockdown composer and saxophonist Cathal Roche, feeling the need to talk, invited the people of Sligo to leave anonymous voice messages describing their experiences of discovery and loss during the pandemic. During the reopening of public spaces, The Model, Sligo, invited people to visit and record their voices in person.
One such visitor was Ken Roht, an actor from the US, who began hosting groups of friends back home online and emailing in voices of mostly sidelined performers experiencing another kind of hiatus. The resulting collection of bits and scraps of transatlantic testimony from the last 2 years offers the listener a rainbow of moving voices, woven together.. pulled apart.. in search of music, love, healing and understanding. Roche on 9 woodwind instruments (bass flute to baritone saxophone) plays counterpoint to feeling and leads when the words fail.
Love of Moving Parts for solo saxophone and multi-tracked ensemble takes place in a 32-speaker dome (low light) @The Nest, Sligo
