Event Description

Limerick Jazz Festival will be hosting an afternoon of live music on Sunday 27th September in Dolans Warehouse. In following with Covid-19 guidelines all tickets will be sold in pods/tables of 4 only. On the day we have some stellar acts lined up as listed below.

Mary Coghlan

One of Ireland’s greatest soulful jazz and blues singers Mary Coughlan has revealed the 4th September 2020 will be the release date for her highly anticipated album ‘Life Stories’. To celebrate, Mary has announced her first single ‘Two Breaking Into One’ taken from her upcoming album ‘Life Stories’.

Sankhara

Tipperary born Joe O’Callaghan is a genuine force in Irish jazz guitar, with extended tasteful lines, contemporary chord shapes and an instinct for rocking out when the need arises.”– Improvised Music Company

Sankhara is a new trio, lead by Joe O Callaghan, playing original music with influences from jazz and classical music. Joe, Izumi and Derek have often performed together in larger groups, but this is a unique opportunity to hear these three leading contemporary musicians who are master improvisors and composers in their own right, in a smaller setting.

Christine Tobin & Phil Robson

Christine Tobin is an Irish born vocalist and composer. She grew up in Dublin and moved to London at the end of the 1980’s to attend the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, for which she was awarded a full scholarship. She was an integral part of the London contemporary scene for many years, but is currently based between the countryside of Northwest Roscommon and New York City.

Phil Robson is a multi award winning guitarist & composer, originally from the UK who relocated to the NYC area in 2015. He has led bands featuring jazz legends David Liebman, Mark Turner, Billy Hart, James Genus, Dayna Stephens & many more as well as working as a sideman with Barbra Streisand, Maceo Parker, Charles Earland, Donny McCaslin, Kenny Wheeler, The BBC big Band & a huge spectrum of internationally renowned musicians. Best known as the co-leader of the cult UK band ‘Partisans’ along with saxophonist Julian Siegel & for his work with the great singer/song- writer Christine Tobin.

Michael Buckley’s House of Horns

Internationally Renowned Saxophonist Michael Buckley brings his critically acclaimed 9 piece band ” The House of Horns” to Dolans Warehouse. A Performance of original Soul, Funk and Groove music,  Featuring a stellar line-up of some of Ireland’s most dynamic and influential musician’s. Michael Buckley is no stranger to Limerick audiences and has proven to be one of Irelands best musical exports. He has played with many great international musicians over the past 20 years and Limerick Jazz are delighted to welcome him back with his 9 piece band playing some great arrangements. Be prepared for a blistering session on Sunday Sept 27.

This is as fine a slice of old school Jazz Rock as you’ll hear this side of the Atlantic – (The Irish Times)

Venue Information - Dolan's Pub

Dolans pub is the hub of the complex, a traditional Irish bar with Irish music seven nights a week all year round. It has become a cultural attraction and this year received the IMRO award for best Live Music venue in Ireland. The bar is open 12pm daily for lunch and 10am on weekends and public holidays for breakfast.
