Event Description
We’re honoured to welcome the internationally acclaimed trio Niwel Tsumbu, Nelly & Éamonn Cagney to The Pav this Jazz Weekend. Celebrated for their breathtaking interplay of guitar, voice and percussion, this special collaboration blends the finest in African guitar mastery, soulful vocals and world-class hand-drumming for a performance that is both intimate and spellbinding.
Hailing from Kinshasa, Niwel Tsumbu is a virtuosic guitarist whose style fuses soukous, jazz, classical and flamenco influences — a musician whose recent solo work has earned wide praise. Joining him is the charismatic vocalist Nelly, whose soaring, emotive delivery brings lyrical warmth and vocal colour to the music. Completing the trio is Irish percussion virtuoso Éamonn Cagney, whose dynamic mastery of hand-drums and world rhythms provides a shimmering rhythmic backbone to every piece.
Together they create a compelling musical dialogue: hypnotic grooves, dazzling guitar lines, rich vocal melodies and intricate percussive textures that cross borders and genres. Expect improvisation, playful interplay and moments of pure, unrepeatable magic.
Join us at 9:30pm on Sunday 26th October for one of the standout concerts of Jazz Weekend — an evening guaranteed to stay with you long after the final note.
