Event Description
Each month, Improvised Music Company hosts Cooler Clinic CPD events at The Cooler at The Complex or online. In July, we’re hosting an online session in collaboration with the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO)—an essential support for music creators across Ireland.
Whether you're a gigging artist, composer, producer, or sound designer, understanding how your rights work (and how you get paid for them) is vital. In this practical and friendly session, IMRO will demystify what they do, how membership works, and why signing up could benefit your career—financially and professionally. But this isn’t just a ‘how-to’ on joining IMRO. We’ll go beyond the basics to explore real-world strategies for musicians, including:
- Royalties 101: Where they come from, how to claim them, and what many musicians miss out on
- Making Your Data Work: How to correctly register your works to ensure you're paid
- Revenue Beyond Gigs: How composing for theatre, film, TV, and advertising can open new income streams
- Support & Funding: Discover IMRO’s grants, showcase opportunities, and educational resources
- Advocacy & Representation: How IMRO supports Irish music creators at home and abroad
Whether you're a full-time musician or balancing music with other work, this session offers practical tools to help your music make money—and impact. Bring your questions, ideas, and notebooks! As always, one-to-one sessions with an IMC team member are available post-discussion, covering career concerns such as releasing music, booking gigs, and more.
Attendance is free, but registration is required. Sign up now to reserve your spot!
