Event Description
(If you’re buying tickets to main evening shows at Mermaid, Bray Town Hall or Whale Theatre, tickets for these shows are offered at a reduced price.)
Yurodny throw open the borders between jazz, Balkan groove and Eastern-European folk — spinning wild instrumental journeys through klezmer, gypsy rhythms, and the avant-garde.
First formed by saxophonist Nick Roth in 2007, Yurodny were a popular fixture of Bray Jazz.
In 2013, they received the EU Presidency Award as part of an international programme celebrating Ireland’s Presidency of the European Union. They performed to more than 7,500 at the Paris Fete de la Music, and enjoyed a riotous and memorable outing on the main stage at Electric Picnic, in 2015.
Now, following a period of hibernation Yurodny are reforming under Roth for this special 25th anniversary Bray Jazz show.
Theirs is a bold, brazen mix of Russian, Romanian, Klezmer, Serbian and Macedonian tunes, afforded a remarkably fluid yet structured arrangement by an ensemble that includes many of the leading figures in Irish jazz, improved and experimental music.
“…triumphant, vibrant and irresistable! ” – The Irish Times

Location of event
Venue Information - Frank Duff’s
Frank Duff’s has been an iconic landmark on Bray Main Street with a history of serving locals for over 75 years. Family-owned and run by the Duff family, it was always a comfortable and welcoming pub. In September 2021, Frank Duff’s was passed onto the Duggan Family and the iconic bar and lounge was sympathetically renovated and new life was brought into the design and overall space inside and out.
