Event Description

A supergroup by any other name ... the band’s precision playing held the attentive audience spellbound. The Devil indeed has the best tunes.

-- Jackie Hayden

Leaning heavily into the genre of 'Dark Cabaret', The Devil’s Spine Band takes its lead from Oscar Wilde’s 1882 trip to Leadville Colorado, then explores all things ‘Cowboy and Wilde-West’ in an Americana explosion heavily tinged with Trevor Knight’s unique innovative flair. The music features settings of a number of Wilde’s poems together with original lyrics. It’s edgy stuff, improvisational, rockin’, at times ambient electronic and at others a whoopin’ and a hollerin’ kind of an affair that will take the audience on a unique journey with some of Ireland’s finest musicians and performers. We encourage dancing of all types and put on that crazy cowboy outfit you’ve always wanted to wear!

Featuring the stunning vocals of Honor Heffernan ('a riveting performer, combining the talent of a jazz musician with the power and pathos of a leading lady.' -- The Irish Times), Ed Deane's 'mind-blowing guitar', the brilliant bass playing of Garvan Gallagher, acclaimed jazz drummer Dominic Mullen, and the wizardry of musician and composer Trevor Knight on keyboard.

Trevor Knight never sits still! In a storied creative career that’s seen him in a myriad of roles such as: touring musician with legendary 80’s avant-pop outfit Auto da Fé, composer, collaborator, theatre director and sound designer. Trevor is well known on the Irish scene as a constant innovator. Much of the music was co-written with Ireland’s finest living blues guitarist Ed Deane (Skid Row. Frankie Miller Band, Dana Gillespie). Ed has featured in all incarnations of the Devil’s Spine Band since its founding in 2011.
