Shy Mascot Release New Single 'Prince Lotor Flow'

Dublin-based collective Shy Mascot have released their latest single, Prince Lotor Flow, a groove-driven track that blends jazz, funk, hip-hop and electronic influences into the band's distinctive sound.

Fresh from an appearance at Bray Jazz Festival, the five-piece continue to build momentum with a release that explores themes of growth, resilience and creative transformation. Built around a punchy bass line, prominent keyboard textures and Jamel's thoughtful vocal delivery, the track reflects on how pressure and lived experience can be transformed into strength through artistic expression.

According to the band, Prince Lotor Flow centres on the idea that growth rarely happens in comfort. Instead, it emerges through challenge, testing and perseverance, with creativity serving as a means of turning those experiences into something meaningful and powerful.

Musically, the single combines jazz-influenced harmony with funk-infused grooves and contemporary hip-hop sensibilities. Layers of synthesiser textures, rhythmic drums and flowing vocal passages create a soundscape that supports the song's lyrical themes while showcasing the band's genre-blending approach.

Shy Mascot have developed a reputation for crossing musical boundaries, combining elements of jazz, funk and hip-hop into a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in groove. Fronted by the vocal pairing of Jamel and Fiadh, the group are supported by Keith's jazz-influenced keyboard work and a rhythm section that brings energy and momentum to their live performances.

The band have appeared at festivals and events including All Together Now, Forbidden Fruit, Galway Jazz Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Sofa Sessions in Kilkenny, Knockanstockan and Red Bull's FREE GAFF. They also performed their previous single, Constantly, on RTÉ's Seisiún, recorded at The Spirit Store in Dundalk.

Their music has attracted attention from publications including The Irish Times, Hot Press, District Magazine, Nialler9 and All About Jazz, reflecting the growing recognition of their work both within and beyond Ireland's jazz community.

Prince Lotor Flow is available now on streaming platforms.
